Canada Global(Web News)Conservative Jameel Giovani wins federal by-election in Ontario Monday night, a lawyer and political commentator running for the Conservatives in the Ontario riding of Durham won a federal by-election.
Jamil Giovanni will take over the seat vacated by former Conservative leader Erin O’Toole.
Giovanni was president of the Canada Strong and Free Network, the political advocacy group and think tank formerly known as the Manning Centre. He has written for the National Post and the Toronto Sun. According to a bio on his campaign website, Giovanni has volunteered with several organizations dedicated to improving the lives of young people and has recovered from terminal illnesses such as cancer

As of 10:20 p.m., Giovanni had 7,102 votes, a 4,194-vote lead over Liberal candidate Robert Rock, a municipal councilor in the township of Skog. Rock had 2,906 votes. Out of a total of 217 polls, 140 were reporting.
