He also said that the 130 Canadians who were airlifted today from Tel Aviv the previous morning had arrived safely in Athens. The federal government had said that flights carrying 150 passengers will start departing from today. About 700 Canadians have asked Israel for help to evacuate since the fighting began on Saturday, officials said.
Thaneda does not normally provide military air transport when commercial flights are still operating, but the government said people are asking them for help because they are having trouble getting tickets.
