Boycott Campaign Against American Products Continues, Pet Owners Also Join The Campaign

Canada Global(Web News)Canadians are showing no hesitation in boycotting American products. Pet lovers are also joining the protest. Dog owners from Quebec and Ontario flock to the Canine Multi-Sport Complex in Saint-Lazare for training sessions and outdoor competitions.

They want the best for their pets and co-owner Martin Hoggs, which means being all-Canadian. He is one of millions of Canadians who are speaking out in their fight against U.S. protectionism. “
Our first step was the easiest,” Hoggs said. “We switched all our treats to Canadian products. Now we only have Canadian products. Some of the American pet treats that are still on the shelves are now being discounted. Canadian products and companies can give us good margins, he said. Chuck Altman, owner of the Little Bear store in Westmount, took the same step, but he had to warn customers that pets are not political. He said people are coming in saying they only want Canadian products. Altman has also found that his customers don’t mind paying a premium for pet food and accessories whenever possible. Canadian products are generally a little more expensive than U.S. products, but most of the best products we find are Canadian.
