Canada Global (Web News) Foods rich in plant protein help keep women healthy as they age.
Women who eat diets high in plant-based protein have a lower risk of chronic diseases and are healthier later in life. According to the researchers, their study showed that women who consumed more protein in their diet (ie foods containing fruits, vegetables, bread, beans, pulses and pasta) had a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. They were less likely to suffer from poor health than those who did not eat these foods.
According to the results, women who consumed more animal protein were more likely to suffer from chronic diseases. According to Tufts University scientist and lead author of the study, André Ardison Korat, protein consumption in midlife was associated with good health in old age. He said the research also found that protein sources are also important. A higher intake of plant-based protein and lower intake of animal-based protein in middle age may contribute to good health in old age.
