Canada Global (Web News) A year after their trial concluded, Amber Heard paid her ex-husband Johnny Depp the settlement sum she owed him in connection with the shocking libel lawsuit.
According to court records submitted by Heard’s attorneys, as reported by Radar Online, the Aquaman actor paid the $1 million settlement with the aid of her insurance carrier.
After the jury concluded that Heard had in fact falsely accused the Pirates of the Caribbean actor of domestic violence, Heard lost her libel action.
After their six-week trial came to a close, the Rum Diary actor was instructed to pay Depp $15 million in settlement ($10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive penalties).
The former lovers did, however, come to an agreement following the announcement of the decision; Heard agreed to pay Depp $1 million, but her insurance company refused to pay the settlement amount on her behalf.
The actor defamed her spouse with “willful” and “malicious” behaviour, according to New York Marine and General Insurance Co., thus they won’t be paying the charge.
Heard has paid the settlement money, according to Depp’s former attorney Camille Vasquez, who made the announcement in a People Magazine article.
Mr. Depp was compensated by Ms. Heard, not the other way around. I want to be really clear about it, Vasquez added. “The ruling is still valid. It will always be valid throughout all of time.
