Canada Global(Web News) On Saturday afternoon, about 100 people participated in a rally demanding the recall of Calgary’s mayor.
The City of Calgary said it received a Notice of Withdrawal request against incumbent Mayor Landon Johnston on Jan. 30.
A signature campaign organized by Landon Johnston collected 514,284 signatures from Calgarians from Feb. 5 to April 4 to vote. are eligible.
That’s about 64,000 signatures per week, or signatures from every household. As of the 2021 census, there are 502,300 households in Calgary. That means Johnston will need more than one signature per household.
Johnston organized a rally in front of Calgary City Hall on Saturday in hopes of collecting more signatures. A spokesperson for the Calgary Police Service said that “no more than 100 people showed up.
