Canada Global(Web News)A flight from Toronto to New York had to return to Toronto because the cockpit smelled like burning wires.

Endeavor Air Flight 4826 took off from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on the morning of February 3, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said. The plane was en route to New York’s JFK Airport when the flight crew declared an emergency. The safety board says the crew was trying to determine which part of the Bombardier twin-engine jet. The part smelled bad. Sparks and flames started coming out of it. Electric heater control on captain’s side windshield.

After donning oxygen masks and declaring an emergency, the crew decided to return to Toronto, where the plane landed safely without incident. The sparks and flames stopped when the flight crew shut off the windshield heat, he said. There were 74 people on board and no one was injured.
