The Canadian Government Is Going To Double The Discount On Government Heating Oil Prices

Canada Global(Web News)The Canadian government is going to double the discount on pollution prices. In addition, federal carbon price increases on deliveries of heating oil are being suspended for three years where the federal fuel charge is effective. This was announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Climate Action Incentive Payment rural top-up rate is also being increased from 10 to 20 percent, starting in April 2024. Trudeau said the initiative is being taken to reduce the high energy costs that people living in rural areas are facing. So we understand that. That’s why we want you to save as much money as possible even as we continue to fight climate change.

The temporary moratorium on fuel charges for home and small business heating will begin within 14 days and apply to all areas where federal fuel charges apply. The ban could last until March 31, 2027, according to Liberal estimates. This will save each household $250 on heating oil. Trudeau also said it would reduce the revenue collected by the government so that the exemption checks would be slightly lower. At the same time, the federal government is encouraging people to use electric heat pumps to keep their homes warm. It is being named New Energy Affordable Package.
