According to sources, Google is now going to introduce 1080 pixel resolution in the web version of Mate for chatting with three or more people. If users have an internal or external camera of this resolution, the user will be prompted for better streaming quality before the conversation begins. This feature is turned off by default but can be controlled from the Settings menu.

On the other hand, 1080 pixels will only be sent to one or more other users when they have turned on the 1080 pixels feature. This will require additional bandwidth and will automatically switch to Mate if bandwidth is limited.
