In the most recent incident, an oil refinery in the city of Angarsk in eastern Siberia caught fire at around 6:00 am local time, according to authorities.
Two people died and five others were injured, one of them required hospitalisation, according to Igor Kobzev, the governor of the Irkutsk region where the city is located.
He claimed on the messaging app Telegram that the fire was believed to have been started by “gas pollution,” citing the emergency ministry.
A criminal investigation regarding a breach of occupational safety laws was launched by investigators.
