Canada Global (Web News) Berlin Brandenburg Airport reported on Thursday that it had to close its takeoff and landing runways as a result of many people entering the property without authorization, while a climate organisation claimed that its activists had glued themselves to the runway.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the environmental advocacy group Last Generation, activists urged people to cease flying and the government to stop funding it.
Berlin police posted on Twitter, “We met numerous people who had previously gained unauthorised access and some of them had glued themselves. This was in an airport area that is not open to the public.”
According to an airport official, police had detained the activists, but the runways had been shut down so that employees could look for and rule out the existence of any other people.
The spokesman was unable to specify the number of impacted flights.
