Canadian government announced $250 million grant for heat pumps

Canada Global (Web News) Canadian government has announced a $250 million grant for heat pumps. Soon Canadians won’t need to heat their homes with oil.

Canadians will soon be able to apply for heat pumps, for which the federal government has announced a $250 million grant.

Speaking to reporters in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said the heat pump affordability grant will provide up to $5,000 for low- and middle-income households.

He said that this money will be spent on installing heat pumps in houses, electrical upgradation of new appliances and removal of oil tanks.

Fraser said the real savings would come when people have lower electricity bills or lower bills to keep homes warm with this type of investment.

Fraser said the grant will become available early in the New Year. But he did not say how much funds would be provided for each province and territory. No information has been received on how many people will be able to apply for this grant.
