Canada Global(Web News)The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) succeeded in busting an organized criminal network after tracking down two suspected drug dealers in Barrie. Millions of dollars worth of crystal meth and cocaine were being trafficked through this network.
Investigators said Project Cranium began in late 2023 when police learned two men were involved in drug trafficking in Barrie. In its release, the OPP said further investigation revealed a large organized network operating out of the Greater Toronto Area, Simcoe County and Durham Region. The police also revealed that the drugs are first bought from the main supplier and then reach lower-level dealers.
On January 21, 2024, the OPP executed 16 search warrants and searched several homes, vehicles and storage lockers in Toronto and recovered an estimated $13 million worth of illegal drugs, half a million in cash and two illegal guns. In this connection, 9 persons have been arrested and 44 charges have been filed against them. Police recovered 173 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 56 kilograms of cocaine, 500 grams of fentanyl, two prohibited guns (one of which was loaded), $620,000 in Canadian currency, drug manufacturing evidence and four vehicles.
