53 Vehicles Seized In Police Raids Targeting Car Theft At Port Of Montreal

Canada Global(Web News)According to the provincial police of Quebec, dozens of vehicles that were to be sent abroad were recovered during raids at the port of Montreal on Tuesday.

A total of 26 shipping containers were searched during the police operation, of which the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said 53 vehicles were seized.

The SQ said the search and seizure involved multiple police forces, including the RCMP, Ontario Provincial Police, Montreal Police and the Canada Border Services Agency. Shows importance

Last week, the federal government convened an Auto Theft Summit to discuss strategies to address and curb the widespread practice of sending stolen cars abroad. I have allocated $28 million in new aid.

The Canadian government says an estimated 90,000 cars are stolen in Canada each year, costing Canadian insurance policyholders and taxpayers nearly $1 billion.
Police advise drivers to take steps to prevent car theft, including locking their car doors, leaving no valuables inside and parking in well-lit areas. Motorists should also not leave a moving car unattended and store key fobs in a metal box for these cars.
