Canada Global (Web News) According to police, two people are accused with a number of crimes in connection with a “porch pirate” investigation in central Ontario.
According to South Simcoe Police, this month’s inquiry resulted in the recovery of a stolen car and the seizure of jewellery and other personal items valued at about $90,000.
The jewels and personal items were reportedly being packed and sent, according to authorities.
“Property has been recovered for victims spanning 16 different cities and villages across Central Ontario with more still to be discovered,” police said in a news statement.
Along with sophisticated identity theft and fraud incidents, the criminal spree included thefts from hotels and residential buildings.
Police claim that they carried out search warrants at a hotel room in Hamilton and that a car was impounded in Innisfil.
A “substantial quantity” of allegedly stolen jewellery, apparel, watches, bank cards, official documents, and personal correspondence were purportedly seized, according to the police.
Authorities reported that they had also found 18 grammes of suspected fentanyl and 18 grammes of suspected methamphetamine.
