Trudeau Offers $1 Billion For Child Care

Canada Global(Web News)Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in Surrey on Thursday that he will invest a billion dollars to provide child care for $10 a day across the country.

Trudeau said the 2024 budget, to be presented next month, would provide low-cost loans and grants directly to public and nonprofit child care providers. These funds will be provided by CMHC, which will help in the development of housing etc. as well as child care. He said that so far they have funded 100,000 places and will continue to do so.

Trudeau said that through this program, every young child will be able to get a good start in life. He said that good quality childcare will give children access to better performance in school and pave the way for success in life. This will give the young parents an opportunity to raise their children in a better way and at the same time they will be able to embark on their careers. He also said an additional $60 million will be provided to eligible child care centers to build new spaces and renovate old ones.

Trudeau also said the Liberal government would also offer student loan forgiveness for rural and remote early childhood educators and spend more than $10 million over two years to provide them with additional training. This will be the same program that is run for rural doctors and nurses.
